What to Do If Your Pet is Choking

If your pet is choking:
  • Open your dog’s mouth and swipe your finger across his throat to remove any obstructions.
  • If the obstruction is not visible, lift your dog on his hind legs, pulling him into your chest.
  • Clasp your hands together to form a fist.
  • Place your hands below the ribcage, or waist length. Begin abdominal thrusts until the object is dislodged.
